Parkersburg Brewing Company

Parkersburg Brewing Company not only offers a fun atmosphere, events, a variety of beer and tasty food – it also tells a story of West Virginia’s history. In 1864, the space was Hebrank & Rapp Brewery, which was started by German immigrants. In 1912, the brewery closed its doors and over the years the space housed car dealerships, a cola bottling plant and a candy wholesaler. Now Parkersburg Brewing Company, you will find a variety of beer and seasonal brews including stouts, IPAs, pale ales and more. In addition, the brewery has a full menu featuring appetizers, paninis, burgers, salads and desserts.

Parkersburg Art Center

In 1938, The Parkersburg Art Center was founded by the Parkersburg West Virginia Woman’s Club. Located in the heart of downtown Parkersburg, the museum contains six galleries that hold around 16 exhibits every year. You can also enjoy events and art classes at the museum. Class schedules can be found on the museum’s website. The museum’s hours are Wednesday – Saturday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, with free entry on Wednesday. Admission is $2 for adults, and children under the age of 12 are always free.

Veterans Museum of Mid-Ohio Valley

The Veterans Museum of Mid-Ohio Valley offers 1,700 square feet of military displays featuring letters, uniforms and artifacts to honor and remember veterans from World War I. In addition, guided tours of the museum, events and programs are offered. The museum is open Monday – Friday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, and Sunday by appointment.

Smoot Theatre

Smoot Theatre was a historic vaudeville house build in 1926. In 1930, the Warner Brothers purchased the theatre, and over the next 56 years it was used for movies. Now, Smoot Theatre offers live entertainment for all ages, including children’s theatre shows and live music. Private tours of the museum can be arranged by contacting the theatre. Ticket prices vary by show and can be purchased online or at the theatre.

Henderson Hall

After visiting Henderson Hall, you are sure to leave with a new appreciation for the vast history it offers. The home of George Washington Henderson, Henderson Hall is an ornate 29-room pre-Civil War mansion. In fact, all of the original furnishings here survived the war. You can take a self-guided tour of Henderson Hall Tuesday through Sunday 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Group tours and school visits can also be arranged.
